Questioning if 1998 s14 sr20det would be capable to import to Hawaii and register legally in 2023, I’ve heard HI and CA (yt analysis) is completely different from different states due to emission requirements. Any assist or steerage is appreciated.

You could always try the Montana loop hole if it’s not already closed up. Look it up, create a LLC in Montana and register the car there.
I know to import to California it’s an extra $10,000 for emissions to get it into spec.
I know Cali is ridiculous on thier moded car regulations, but not so sure about Hawaii. I know they’ve have had some pretty nice cars over there, so I’d imagine it’s not as bad as Cali.
You can do it for free while not registering on road use just yet. My best advice. Military will ship it at that point or can have logistics ship as parts. I’ve taken batteries out and deemed car inop. Then once it’s inside of your garage the next steps would be registering.
Before the hard part was physically getting asset while having paperwork ready. Now it’s flipped.
In hopes these kinks are fixed tons of importers I know of have been able to get jzx100s inside without any Hassle. S14 is next up!
Hawaii is like Texas however I actually have a source that has four r34s inside his garage all regod. It’s a beautiful island for drift and import fuels the economy so they don’t bat an eye. California is slowly coming out of its hemorrhoids of a Dictatorship….
Im from CA. Tgis state hates everything car. Thats all. Continue
